So in any case, Valentines Day kind of makes me laugh. The cards, the candies, etcetera, they all have the corniest Valentines Day messages on them. In fact, many of these messages are pretty much cornier than anything else that has ever been made commercially available.

Yeah, even this.

Consequently, we have a fun little tradition in our family where we make our own Valentines cards. Meghs and I have given each other homemade Valentines cards pretty much since before we were ever even dating (it's a long story), usually referencing something nerdy or something that happened during the year. Always, amusing, but nothing necessarily new there.

What is noteworthy this year is that we made cards for the kids. With the kids' cards, we were trying to make them similar to the store-bought ones. And I mean that in the worst possible way. Which is to say, we made extra corny Valentines cards for the kids. We were going for "so unfunny that it's kind of hilarious." The verdict is still out on whether or not we actually succeeded.

Yeah, there's room for improvement, for sure, but we had a lot of fun with making our own cards. It's definitely a Valentines Day highlight for me.
