As anyone who read my previous post about the eating habits of my daughter should already know, she can be pretty difficult at the dinner table. The Dinner Wars, as I like to call them, are (one of) the bane(s) of my existence.
So it is with great shock and excitement that I can announce that this is what she ate for dinner last night:
Okay, so the real thing didn't have anything on it but cheese, and she only ate half of it, but that's kind of beside the point |
It was only a month or so later that Ellie randomly decided that she would never again eat any food that was not a waffle. All of the foods that had been her favorites up until then were suddenly forgotten, and she wouldn't take so much as a single bite of any of them.
So, back to the burger... Playing it back in my mind, I'm not really sure how we got to the topic, but I was telling Ellie that there were tiny hamburgers called Sliders. She thought that the idea of miniature hamburgers was funny, so I showed her some pictures. When she giggled again, I asked if she would eat one, and she said yes. That was two days ago...
Last night, we went out for burgers, hoping that the place would have Sliders, and that Ellie might still want to eat one. She seemed seemed somewhat excited about the whole thing, but I was sure that she wouldn't be so enthusiastic once her plate was actually sitting in front of her. When we found out that they didn't have sliders, it seemed like that was going to be the end of it, but in a completely uncharacteristic move, Ellie said she would eat a regular cheeseburger. "Alright, let's just go with it," I thought, "there's no way she will even take a bite, but maybe Cam will eat it."
I was wrong.
Not about Cam eating, he downed his as if it were his last meal.
I was wrong about Ellie not eating.
Don't get me wrong, she sure took her time doing it, but she ate the cheeseburger, and she liked it. No complaining at all. And I was/am totally stoked.
I'm not sure who this little Ellie-alike doppelganger is, or what she's done with my daughter, but she is absolutely welcome to come again for dinner anytime she wants.
